Allocean Maritime Investments Ltd is an independent investment banking and asset management firm focused on the maritime and energy sectors.

 

The principal areas of our investment banking business are capital raising and advisory services. We have raised over US$2 billion of capital through debt, equity and leasing structures and have served as a strategic advisor on capital raising, M&A and joint-venture transactions.

 

As a maritime asset manager we have experience in providing commercial, technical and administration management for more than 40 commercial vessels across all the main sectors.

 

Our professionals have substantial and successful international experience in assisting shipping companies, banks, family offices, institutional and private investors in structuring optimal financial solutions.

 

The company was established in the UK in 2012 and is based in London.

Capital Raising:

 

Lease financing for 16 x Containerships (1,000 – 4,400 TEU), 5 x Product Tankers (40,000-47,000dwt), 4 x Multi-Purpose Vessels (20,000dwt), 3 x Bulk Carriers (Capesize & Panamax), Fleet of Crew Transfer Vessels, Suezmax tanker, Chemical Tanker (37,000dwt), 2 x Offshore Vessels (PSV & AHTS).

 

Debt finance for 6 x Bulk Carriers (Capesize & Handysize), Aframax tanker, Livestock Carrier, Multi-Purpose Vessel (10,000dwt), Bunker Trading company, $246m portfolio facility.

 

Equity Raising for distressed market containership project ($80m), dry bulk trading platform ($50m), maritime investment fund IPO ($150m).

 

Advisory:

 

Buy-side acquisition of Offshore Support Vessel company including structuring debt financing, buy-side acquisition of shipping company, sell-side maritime investment fund IPO.

Reviewed shipping portfolios and provided ongoing advice for both potential buyers (PE firms) and lending banks.

Asset Management:

 

Acquired and operated fleet of 13 vessels (6 x Container ships, 4 x bulk carriers (Handysize/Panamax/Supramax), 2 x Tankers (MR/LR), Chemical tanker (13,000dwt)).

Operating and managed fleet of 11 vessels for 3rd party owners (6 x Container ships, 4 x Capesize bulk carriers, Car Carrier).

Acquired and administered 16 vessels on behalf of 12 LPs (7 x Panamax bulk carriers, 5 x Offshore Support Vessels, 3 x MR tankers).

The Management Team

​

Braden Harris - Managing Director:

Braden is a founding partner of Allocean. With over 30 years’ experience in investment, financing and operating maritime and other transportation, energy and infrastructure assets, he is responsible for sourcing and leading transactions and oversees the asset management function. Braden was previously a partner & shareholder in Cleaves (a financing & shipbroking group) where he led several shipping limited partnership and advisory transactions with a value in excess of US$800m. As a partner in Allco, an Australian investment manager, he set up 2 shipping companies funded by 3rd party investors and arranged financing for over US$1 billion of new vessels. Braden started his career as an analyst for 4 years with Babcock & Brown; he then spent 3 years in Paris as a VP at Jet Finance and 5 years at ANZ Investment Bank, including heading the Asian structured finance business.  Braden is a graduate of The Cass Business School.

 

Andy Graham - Director:

Andy is a founding partner of Allocean and is responsible for the investment management, investor relations, compliance and regulatory aspects of all investment projects from inception through to closing. Formerly a Regional Investment Manager at AIG, Andy has over 30 years’ experience in the UK Financial Services market in sales, technical and investment management roles, managing national broker accounts at HBOS & AXA as well as acting as a Trustee for many pension schemes. Andy graduated with a BSc In Geography from Leeds University and holds Chartered status with the Institute of Insurance.

 

David Spence - Business Development:

David consults for Allocean on all matters concerning alternative capital product design, distribution and strategy. He has 23 years’ experience in financial services, specifically structuring and raising capital for structured products and alternative investments and has held senior positions at several banks, notably Bank of America and Société Générale. In recent years David has held roles in non-bank financial institutions, including co-founding a financial services firm with a German shipping company. David read Economics at Westminster University.

 

Ingmar Loges - Consultant:

Ingmar uses his very strong global network within the maritime and financial industry to source and advise on transactions. He is an entrepreneurial and driven Ship Finance Executive, with over 27 years of leading industry experience in domestic and international maritime markets. Ingmar has been the Global Head of Ship and Offshore Finance for the last 15 years in leading financial institutions, notably DVB Bank, HSH Nordbank and HypoVereinsbank/Unicredit. He has a proven track record of marketing and executing transaction across multiple shipping sectors and worked as a Shipbroker in Hamburg and London prior to his banking career. Ingmar holds an MA in Economics.

 

Peter Macmillan - Technical Management:

Peter has a 45-year career in shipping at sea and onshore and undertakes physical oversight of assets, from pre-purchase inspection through to ongoing operations. His previous positions include LNG Project Manager at EDK Indonesia; Fleet superintendent/manager at Paccship, Thome, GO Offshore and Allocean (oil & gas tankers/bulkers/containerships/OSVs); Superintendent at Global Marine, Seacor, P&O – (Cable layers/OSVs/bulkers/reefers/tankers; Chief Engineer at Shell on LPG tankers. Peter holds a Class 1 Certificate as a Marine Engineer.

David Brookes - Legal Consultant

David is an English qualified solicitor with over 25 years’ combined experience from private practice in the City of London (including 10 years as a Partner), more recently in-house as the General Counsel of a private equity and venture capital group and as a legal consultant to Allocean.

He has vast experience of the shipping and offshore industry gained from representing many of the leading owners and financiers on a wide variety of cross-border finance transactions (debt, private equity, capital markets and leasing) as well as enforcement, restructurings and workouts. Additionally, David has undertaken other industry-related transactional, corporate, commercial and contract work including joint ventures, reviewing loan portfolios, construction contracts for ships and rigs, charterparties, and sale and purchase of vessels.
